A View From The Pulpit

The ministries of Calvary Baptist Church are designed to meet the needs of families. Our focus is on families. Our Sunday School has gifted teachers for every age. Our nursery is clean and well-staffed. There are two adult classes from which to choose – the Pastor’s Bible Class and the Couples Class. There is also a for College and Career aged young adults. Our teen ministry is exciting and active. In addition to Sunday School, there is a Sunday evening meeting geared for the teens. During the football season, there are fifth quarter gatherings for the teens after home games. There is a Wednesday night Youth Extreme event that deals with needs in the lives of the teens.

Our church has multiple services designed to promote growth in the lives of Christians. In addition to Sunday School at 10 AM on Sunday, there is an 11 AM worship service and 6 PM service. We have Wednesday night Bible study for adults. The elementary age children have L.I.T. classes. These classes are designed to begin training these young children to be leaders – thus the title, Leaders In Training. Our teens also have their contemporary service on Wednesday night.

Calvary Baptist Church has a rich history of 50+
years of teaching the Bible and preaching the gospel. Founded in October of 1959, Pastor Wm. McComas led the church through seventeen years of evangelistic outreach and the church grew exponentially. He remained as pastor until the fall of 1976. At that time Dr. Ralph Wingate was called as pastor and he served the church for three years.

Dr. Jerry Burton became Pastor in 1979 and provided 32 years of leadership to our church until his retirement in December of 2011.

Pastor Tim LaBouf served as pastor from December of 2011 until July 2015.

We also have a strong program of Global Missions, reaching out to a large part of the world through individual missionary families and also helping sponsor missionary endeavors here in the United States.

God has gifted our church with a great number of believers who use their talent for Christ as the minister in song. Our choir is exceptional and sings in both services on Sunday.
