Hang tough and hang on

After reading several Facebook postings today, I want to share my heart with those of you who feel like you are in a situation that’s squeezing and crushing you from all sides. I know from experience that when we face the stormy seas of this life, the Lord will be there with us with endurance and calm. 2 Corinthians 4:7-9 “But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us. 8

We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; 9 Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;”. Winston Churchill said: “God gave the bulldog a bent nose so that it could still breath while it hangs on.
God's message to the Corinthian Christians is the message of “don’t give up”. Hang tough and hang on.

We are clay jars (earthen vessels) because we are vulnerable, frail and faulty. So, what is the “treasure in” us? The treasure is Jesus Himself. The treasure of Christ’s sacrifice. The treasure of our great salvation. Jesus Himself dwells in the hearts of those who believe. We hold this great treasure of Christ within us. So, what do we do when we are doubting, not knowing what is ahead, questioning our choices, or wondering which way to go, what to do, or even what to say. I never forget that I am never forsaken.
God never leaves His child alone. He is with us and is there to give us His presence and power. We might be in troubled times, but we are never beyond the outstretched hand of God. God never leaves us without hope.
